public arts commission will engage political campaigns in order to help advance legislation and various governmental programs that support greater democracy within and outside art.   As part of public arts commission’s agenda to support greater democracy within and outside art, public arts commission seeks to strengthen and grow public arts programs in the United States by engaging multiple venues of government, particularly the electoral process.  public arts commission will engage legislation and governments in a number of ways including:

  1. supporting political campaigns that support strengthening and growing public arts in the United States as well as greater democracy within and outside art.  public arts commission will support political campaigns by researching their positions and giving analysis on which campaigns support strengthening and growing public arts as well as greater democracy within and outside art.  public arts commission will research and analyze what different campaign positions mean for public arts and how different strategies might help strengthen different campaign positions in favor of public arts.  public arts commission will endorse political campaigns that meet a standard of support for strengthening and growing public arts in the United States as well as greater democracy within and outside art.  The standard for endorsement by public arts commission will take into consideration historical trends in each race.

  2. helping advance legislation that supports strengthening and growing public arts in the United States as well as greater democracy within and outside art.  public arts commission will research legislation that affects public arts and ways to improve the legislation.  public arts commission will help advance legislation in line with its goals at multiple levels of government.  public arts commission seeks to help educate the public about legislation that affects public arts by publishing its research and analysis of what the legislation means for public arts and the world and offering recommendations for how to improve the legislation.

  3. facilitating conversations between arts practitioners interested in growing and strengthening public arts and their representatives.  public arts commission seeks to connect representatives with their constituents from the arts community who have an interest in growing and strengthening public arts.  Towards such an end, public arts commission will cultivate relationships with public officers as well as arts practitioners interested in growing and strengthening public arts through a number of projects.  The projects include a quarterly online journal called public arts commission journal (PAC journal), exhibitions and research.

  4. work with multiple levels of governmental arts organizations to grow and strengthen public arts and support greater democracy within and outside art.  public arts commission will connect governmental arts organizations with critical arts practitioners as well as public officials who support growing and strengthening public arts and share an interest in greater democracy within and outside art.
